Fertility acupuncture is a specialist area of my practice, combining traditional acupuncture with an individualised approach for people seeking fertility support.

Acupuncture is complementary to medical treatment and is not a replacment for investigations or treatment from your medical team.
What fertility acupuncture involves
There is no standard fertility acupuncture protocol that I apply to everyone.
At your initial consultation, I take a detailed history and look at your menstrual cycle, previous fertility treatment, medical and fertility history, lifestyle and any relevant test results or information that you bring with you.
Your first appointment includes an acupuncture treatment, so you have the opportunity to try acupuncture before booking a course of treatments. Treatment will be adapted based on where you are in your menstrual cycle (if trying naturally) or where you are in your IVF treatment cycle.
Acupuncture for natural fertility support
If you are trying to conceive naturally, I offer a structured course of acupuncture rather than treating each appointment in isolation.
I often recommend an initial three-month course for patients who want regular acupuncture as part of their preconception routine.
This usually includes
- An initial consultation, including an individualised report
- A course of weekly acupuncture sessions
- Review of your treatment plan as we go
- Practical recommendations relevant to your individual history
After 3 months, we will review our treatment plan together and decide together what feels appropriate for the next stage. We may continue fortnightly for an agreed period, or move to early pregnancy support.
Acupuncture in preparation for IVF
(IUI, IVF, ICSI, FET, Donor)
When to start?
I usually recommend starting acupuncture 3 months before a fresh IVF cycle starts
- An initial consultation with written report
- Initial course of 12 weekly sessions
- additional sessions are recommended around transfer dates
When possible, I recommend starting acupuncture around three months before an assisted fertility cycle, such as IUI or IVF. Starting earlier gives us time for an initial consultation, a personalised treatment plan and regular appointments before your fertility treatment begins.
Acupuncture treatment is often described in terms of treatment frequency and dose, meaning how often treatment is given and over what period of time. For this reason, I generally prefer to establish a regular treatment plan rather than offering isolated appointments.
It also gives us time to discuss relevant lifestyle factors and any questions you may wish to raise with your fertility clinic or GP, alongside your acupuncture treatment.

My waiting list can vary at any given time, particularly around busy IVF periods. If you have a planned IVF or FET cycle, I recommend getting in touch as early as possible so that we can discuss availability and whether I can accommodate your treatment dates.
